As a Registered Social Worker and former Policy Lead with Alberta Health Services (AHS) in Calgary, Alberta, I am a nonjudgmental, client centered individual, who provides advocacy and support to individuals experiencing oppression. My objectives are to utilize client strengths to support individuals in overcoming the barriers and challenges that are experienced through systemic oppression, addictions, mental health issues, poverty, and discrimination. I am an ally. As a Health Care Leader, my objective is to model the way and set examples for others, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act, and recognize the contributions of others; all the while, choosing courage over comfort. Who I am, is how I lead.

Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) is Alberta’s new provincial assisted living agency established as a key pillar of the overall refocusing of Alberta’s health care system. We are strengthening the province’s assisted living system to deliver the best integrated health care and social services for Albertans. ALA strives to deliver care more effectively and consistently throughout the province, helping older adults, Albertans with disabilities, and vulnerable populations maintain their quality of life and independence, while supporting caregivers, family members, and friends.
Health care workers continue to be dedicated to delivering excellent health care to Albertans, and Albertans continue to have access to high-quality services and support. ALA provides Albertans with the support they need through a comprehensive assisted living system, offering a full range of services, including medical and non-medical supports, continuing care homes, home care, community care, and social services.
ALA is committed to ensuring that all Albertans can access the care they need, when and where they need it—regardless of age, diagnosis, or duration of need. We work to improve care delivery across Alberta by enhancing home and community services, expediting spaces in supportive living and continuing care homes, and making sure Albertans and their caregivers are well-informed.
ALA collaborates closely with Acute Care Alberta, Primary Care Alberta, and Recovery Alberta to ensure smooth coordination between services, strengthening patient care, and reducing wait times for health care services across the province.
Professional Relationships are key in how I commence ensuring trust, networking, and support to better protect and serve the public interest.
Competence is an important function of my practice as I undertake responsibility towards achieving a diversity of knowledge, skills and abilities specific to addictions and mental health issues.
Fees, Billings and Statements require policies of which Social Workers in private practice are responsible for, contributing toward professionalism and ensuring equality.
Record Keeping and Confidentiality are vital towards gaining trust and efficacy in my practice. All record keeping is in compliance with standards outlined in the ACSW Standards of Practice and within the professional agency I work for (ALA).
Professional Accountability is how I act to promote excellence in the Social Work profession.
